Our mission at the South East Health Technologies Alliance (SEHTA) is to facilitate the profitable and sustainable growth of companies in South East England's health technologies sector - biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
Funded primarily by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), one of the primary aims of SEHTA is to support the growth of mid-sized companies in the sector by providing access to business support, grants and finance advice, networking and collaboration opportunities.
SEHTA also acts as an intermediary, bridging the gap between our members and policymakers, regulators, the media and the general public in order to improve the environment in which our members operate. Through these relationships SEHTA creates alliances between key players in the health technologies community.
With a £6 billion share of a £120 billion global market, the health technology sector is one of the great hopes for the sustainability of the UK economy. With revenues of £58 billion generated from the health supply chain, the SEEDA region contributes extensively to the economic prosperity of the UK, supported by 22 universities and over 1000 health technology companies.
As a member you can drive the future direction of SEHTA to benefit you and your company.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) welcomes this opportunity to sponsor the Annual bioProcessUK Conference 2008. It provides us with an opportunity to highlight our commitment to biopharmaceuticals - a growth area for GSK. GSK is committed to establishing leadership in the discovery, development and delivery of biopharmaceutical medicines to target areas of high unmet medical need where conventional small-molecule therapies have proven inadequate. This commitment is exemplified in the formation of the Biopharmaceutical Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery in 2004, the acquisition of Domantis in 2007 and the in-licensing of a number of late stage biopharmaceutical assets over the last 3 years. The result is a strong biopharmaceutical portfolio across a range of therapeutic areas including respiratory, oncology, inflammation, neurology and metabolic and spanning all development stages from early Discovery through to Filing. GSK has world-class research, development and manufacturing staff and facilities in Europe (including the UK) and the US to enable the progression of these biopharmaceutical products from discovery through development to the marketplace.
GSK's biopharmaceutical strategy is an integral part of achieving our mission to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.
